Mexican national is indicted for illegal reentry
TYLER- U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced that indictments were returned on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, charging several individuals with federal crimes in the Eastern District of Texas.
Jaime Ramirez-Alvarez, 38, a Mexican national, has been indicted for illegal reentry of a deported alien. According to the indictment, on Dec. 6, 2009, Ramirez-Alvarez is alleged to have been found in Titus County after having been deported to Mexico on June 8, 2004, following a conviction on Mar. 6, 2003, for driving while intoxicated in Gregg County..
If convicted, he faces up 10 years in federal prison and deportation. This case is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Allen Hurst.
Mexican National sentenced for being illegal alien in possession of a firearm
A Mexican National illegally living in the United States was sentenced to federal prison. Juan Solis Gutierrez, 38, of Marshall pleaded guilty on Sep. 10, 2009, to being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and was sentenced Wednesday to 15 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge T. John Ward.
According to information presented in court, on July 16, 2008, law enforcement officers arrested Solis-Gutierrez for theft of a riding lawn mower. While searching the defendant’s truck, deputies found a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic pistol and an additional magazine.
Following the arrest, it was determined that Solis-Gutierrez was a citizen of Mexico, illegally present in the United States, and thereby prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm. A federal indictment was returned by the grand jury on June 3, 2009 charging Solis-Gutierrez with being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security n Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Allen H. Hurst and Denise O. Simpson.

It’s about time that the government start enforcing the laws already on the books regarding these illegals. Start locking them up and they won’t be so eager to get back over here once they are deported. I say let’s bring back “hard labor” in prison.
