Illegal Caught Speeding To Be Deported

A man stopped for speeding in Beaver Meadows will be deported by U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement, borough police said. Police Chief Michael Morresi stopped 36-year-old Jose Juarez Peña, 50 Madison St., West Hazleton, just after 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Broad Street (Route 93).

Illegal caught speeding had five IDs, police say - News - Standard Speaker Peña had five separate identifications showing addresses in the Philadelphia area, Maryland and Mexico, according to Morresi. He checked with ICE and learned Peña was in this country illegally for the past nine years. Peña is being held at the Carbon County prison until ICE agents arrive to take him back to Mexico. His vehicle was impounded for sale by borough police.
